I hope everyone has had a great week, weekend, whatever it may be for you as you are reading this!
We are continuing the series today on sneakers that I have already reviewed via my YouTube channel or IG, but didn't write reviews on. Next up as you can already tell is the Jordan 37. Lets go ahead and jump in and talk about how these performed on court!
Fit: 3
The fit on these was a little odd as I went down half a size, but the sneaker still fit super long. I probably could have went down a full size in this sneaker for a fit I would have really enjoyed, but I didn't send them back I just went with what I had to test these. The fit I wouldn't say hindered my performance in these, and overall I liked playing in these a lot. My overall recommendation is to try them on first, but if that's not the case I would go down half as I did, if you are not able to try them on first.
Traction: 5
The past several years I have really enjoyed the traction setups and patterns from JB on their flagship model. The 37s were no different, Straight out of the box I really had no break in time or wiping to get the traction to bite. One court I play on more so in the winter is super dusty, and these performed very well even on that surface. As you can see from the CW in the photos, the pair I purchased was an exclusive/PE and they featured a full rubber, gum outsole. I believe this is the only CW with a gum outsole. The setup overall offered me no issues from any standpoint whether that was cutting, moving laterally or vertically you are covered and good to go in the Jordan 37.
Materials: 5
I know, I know a perfect score for materials?!? With this sneaker you are looking more at a mid and really a true high top sneaker here. Now a days that is not really the preference or a sneaker that is going to jump off the shelves for basketball shoe sales. The choice and weight of the materials make this higher top sneaker feel super light and something that makes this shoe one even a low top only player could like. Now take into consideration here the height of the shoe isn't changing, but the feel of the shoe for a high top sneaker changes due to the materials. The Leno weave upper is very nice, lightweight, and feels super comfortable on court. With my actual pair/CW the lighter color offers almost a complete see thru visual with the shoe on foot. as I said in my video review, you better wear some cool socks with this pair! I am not completely sure if you can see straight thru on all CW's, but it is a pretty cool detail with this CW. Worried about durability of Leno weave? Don't be. I pulled these back out and have been playing in them the past two weeks and they still have hardly any wear to not only the materials but really any aspect at all to the shoe. The ankle/heel has some nice padding, the toe cap and forefoot areas have some nice overlays to help with containment, and overall the materials were a strongpoint with the Jordan 37. I was impressed with how they made a high top sneaker in the modern era feel on court.
Cushion/Impact Protection: 5
With the Jordan 37 you are getting more of a premium feel which we expect, but still some court feel that offers a great mix that I thought felt great on court. The sneaker offers Formula 23 Foam as well as double stacked air units In the forefoot. The double stacked air in the forefoot is pretty noticeable to the feel in my opinion and it offers nice comfort on court. The 37s had great responsiveness especially in the forefoot. I still had a good amount of court feel, but I didn't go home with my knees hurting after playing in these either. The heel offered nice impact protection, and nothing for me to complain about. With these you are getting a setup that I really liked and something that played well to my feel or preferences I am looking for on court. If you are looking for a nice cushion setup, with still a good amount of court feel these will not disappoint.
Lockdown: 4
By now you know I am a huge fan of traditional lacing systems and being able to get a basketball sneaker snug or to my liking. For a while I felt a lot of models no matter the brand were going away from this, but it seems a lot more lately have went back. Obviously these do offer more traditional lacing, but you also feel nice and locked in at all times in the heel and forefoot. The Leno Weave and overlays, etc also work together very nicely to give you a nice locked in feel to the shoe as well. I didn't have any issues with these the first time testing them and the past few weeks playing in them it has been no different. The lockdown has worked great, offered me no issues, and I do feel it is one of the stronger points to the Jordan 37.
Overall: 4
You are getting a super I mean super solid hoop shoe for any player on court with these 37s. I thoroughly enjoyed these from basically every single aspect. I did have some issues with that fit that we went over, but It really didn't hinder my performance on court. I really liked, and had a lot of fun playing in the 37s. Playing in them the last two weeks reminded me of how good they really were and still are on court. I feel like so many basketball sneakers drop now that some just never really get talked about too much but could be great performers. These could be a shoe I played in for a long time and looked at as a go-to. There are many great choices out there right now and probably the most there have ever been for great on court shoes. These may not be your first choice at this point, but if you have any want of trying them I do think that you will enjoy them!
Why Not A Perfect Score??
I am not going to give these a perfect score due to the fit being a little odd, and even me being more of a preference type guy for a higher top model on court I think these could have been a little lower. I am not trying to super critique these as I actually really did like them on court overall. It was one of my favorites from all of this past seasons models, but my point here is if you think these are not for you.. Take a look at the 37 lows!! I had all intentions of testing them out, but did not get to with the fracture in my foot. I am not completely sure yet whether I am going to go back and test them or not but I do think with how these performed the 37 lows would be something worth checking out if you are into low tops only.
